Watercolour Tips – Supplies Edition
Watercolour Tips – Supplies Edition
This might surprise you…
Some of my best watercolour pieces have been created by using simple equipment I readily had to hand when I was less knowledgable about professional watercolour supplies.
Below are a couple of examples of my top selling watercolours, loved worldwide, and were painted using paper that’s not absorbent and with student grade paints.
It’s a reminder that passion and creativity can shine through, regardless of the materials used.
(I painted these back in 2014)
However, through practice and knowledge, I’ve learned that you can achieve even better results instantly by upgrading your painting supplies.
They can give your paintings more vibrancy and lasting colors. You’ll also be impressed by the wider range of tones and textures that can be achieved.

I still recommend using what you have to hand, and my early watercolours are proof of this.
In my new professional watercolour video classes, I always recommend you use the materials you have already. You will love the results you can achieve, like I did with my very first paintings I created when I first started out. It’s a great way to learn and achieve in the watercolor process.
Why not try your existing supplies and new ones out in my new watercolor tutorials? You may see a noticeable difference to your watercolour paintings when you compare the two!

Do you have a watercolour supplies story to tell? I would love to hear it! You can leave me a comment here. I always love hearing your thoughts.
Happy painting!
