Inspirational journal: How to paint a loose watercolour hare

Is it me or has Summer hopped by?

When I see a Hare, the first thing I notice is their extra-long ears, and vibrant eyes, not to mention their charming faces.

If you are lucky enough to get close to one, look at their colours. Around their ears, you will notice a violet/pinky with a gorgeous black tip. It really is spectacular.

To really capture this Hare’s form, I mixed my paints to get the perfect colour match. I layered frequently around the ears, eyes, nose and cheeks, to really make them stand out. I kept some white within my painting to accentuate the nose and ear areas.

I worked quickly and loosely when creating this cheeky looking hare, with the vibrant brown and grey hues, it really brings the picture to life.

 What do you think?

You can see the steps I followed to paint my Hare in my loose watercolour style in this free step-by-step guide.

Did you know that Hares have two fur colours, Grey in the Summer & White in the Winter? Let me know in the comments below.
