Inspirational journal: How to paint loose watercolour tulips

I’ve been getting a lot of inspiration from Tulips lately; I have visited our local breathtaking tulip displays, here in West Sussex, which has been regarded as one of the best in Europe, not to mention the stunning Arundel castle. I’m so lucky to live so close by!

They really make me want to pick up my paint brush and start matching the hues I see when I look at a Tulip. Their perfect cup like form, and beautiful vibrant colours are so distinctive. Tulips are definitely the most colourful of all spring flowers!

I just love tulips, it’s a sure sign that Spring has sprung, and Summer is on its way. Yay!

Because of their compact form, you inevitably think they are complex to paint, but I’ll show you how simple they are to paint in loose watercolour in this step-by-step guide.

Did you know the most know tulip petals are edible?

I hope you’re feeling inspired to paint a tulip of your very own. I can’t wait to see them!
